It is likely you wouldn’t believe I was actually face to face with a real live T-Rex. The Dinosaur may have been fake, but it was still pretty scary for my brothers… and if I’m being honest, it might have spooked me… but just a little bit.
My family and I went to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. It was really cool. They have a museum with a lot of fossils. There is even a lab where they were working on cleaning up the old bones they find in the park.
We went on a few hikes, but I really liked stepping off the path to climb the rocky hills. It was hard but defiantly more fun than climbing the rock walls at the play ground. I liked the challenge and getting up high.
We were lucky when we came. It was supposed to be a night clear sky and there was a lot of astronomers there with their telescopes. They helped us build our own paper rockets that we got to shoot into the sky and gave us some cool glasses to look at the sun. We decided we would come back at night to see the stars. It was so dark and I could actually see the Milky Way. I also got to see Saturn with its rings, Jupiter with four of its moons and the Hercules star cluster. It’s located in his armpit and has over 500,000 stars. It was amazing
Just north of the badlands is Wall, South Dakota. Home to the famous Wall Drug Store. If you are ever here, it’s hard to miss. There are signs everywhere telling you to come get Ice Cold, Free Water, 5cent coffee (which my dad liked), homemade ice cream and donuts.
I thought it would just be an ordinary story. But as it turns out, it was fun and cool. They had lots of games, a shooting gallery and things to play on outside in their backyard. You could run through a splash park, ride in a stage-coach, or even on a jack-a-lope.
Then there was the T-Rex who eats every 12 minutes. We came in just in time to see the warning lights start to flash and the dinosaur start to roar with smoke and lighting. It did scare me a little bit. Dad couldn’t talk me into standing under it to get a picture, so he did it for me.
All and all, we had a fun day and one that was totally unexpected.
